This pyx has a poignant depiction of Christ carrying the cross. The image is rendered in a silver finish. The pyx is made of brass that has been plated in 24-karat gold. Gold plating is in keeping with the reverent standards of the Catholic Church, ensuring that the Blessed Sacrament is surrounded by precious materials. The pyx features a hinged lid and metal clasp; with no inner moving parts, the mechanism is durable and long-lasting. A metal loop is attached to the pyx for a cord should the priest, deacon or extraordinary minister of Holy Communion desire it when administering Holy Communion to the sick or home-bound.
