CATHOLICISM: The Pivotal Players is a multi-part series that illumines a handful of saints, artists, mystics, and scholars who not only shaped the life of the Church but changed the course of western civilization. This short study focuses on two incredible saints from the fourth and fifth centuries: St. Augustine of Hippo and St. Benedict of Nursia.
The Leader's Guide includes the Facilitator’s Guide, all 4 lessons from the participant’s Study Guide, and an Answer Key for the Questions for Understanding. The Facilitator’s Guide details how to plan, promote, and present the study.
For group study, you can present the program in 4-5 sessions of 60-90 minutes each. Each session should include video viewing and group discussion of Study Guide questions. All study coordinators or group facilitators can also register for free training webinars.
The Study Guide contains detailed commentary on the film, as well as “Questions for Understanding" based on the presentation, Scripture, and the Catechism of the Catholic Church. Also included are “Questions for Application" to help connect the material to your own life and experience and the suggested answers to the questions.
Whether you use it for personal formation or host a complete Study Program for your parish or group, you’ll go deeper with the following experts on these two Pivotal Players:
- Chad C. Pecknold, Ph. D, Associate Professor of Systematic Theology at The Catholic University of America (St. Augustine)
- Abbott Jeremy Driscoll, O.S.B., Benedictine abbott and internationally renowned author and lecturer (St. Benedict)
The Study Guide commentary was written under the direction and approval of Bishop Barron.
