The original San Damiano Crucifix resides in Assisi, Italy This reproduction of the gorgeous Crucifix is faithful to the original, which Saint Francis prayed before, and subsequently received his commission to rebuild the church.
Despite the wounds He carries, Jesus Christ is represented here as strong, upright and resolute. The Major and Minor witness are represented around Him. Above Him, the heavenly host welcome Him as He enters into heaven. The Patron Saints of Umbria sit at the foot of the cross and the entire cross is surrounded with calligraphic scrolls and gold accents. This Crucifix, an Italian import, is available from the F.C. Ziegler Company in two sizes.
