This Crucifix is a reproduction of the Misericordia Crucifix. "Misericordia" is Latin for "Mercy". The original, of Italian origin, was painted some time between 1370-75, and meant to be carried in processions or displayed on an altar. It was painted on both sides. This Crucifix shows the obverse side, featuring Saint Francis at the top, the Blessed Virgin on the left, Saint John the Beloved on the right, and Saint Anthony of Padua at the base of the cross. This Crucifix is made of a resin stone mix and measures 14-1/2 inches by 10-3/4 inches.
